When Seconds Count, Missouri Delta Medical Center Is There For You

Penzel Helps Missouri Delta Medical Center Add Enhanced Emergency Services

According to statistics, there is a 1-in-3 chance that you, or a loved one, will require the services of an emergency room this year. When faced with an emergency, the one thing you need is quick, convenient access to a state-of-the-art facility with caring, skilled medical staff.

Providing superior emergency services for the members of the community is one of the primary missions of Missouri Delta Medical Center. This is why Missouri Delta Medical Center, with the help of Penzel Construction, has developed a plan that will upgrade and double the square footage of their Emergency Services facility in Sikeston to better care for patients and their families. Renovated and expanded physical space in the Emergency Department is key to meeting the community’s expectations for timely, compassionate care.

The scope of this $7 million build-out and renovation project includes:

• Creating seventeen new, private and restful patient rooms (replacing the current open area of beds separated by a curtain).

• A new emergency expedited care area for greater efficiency in treating arriving patients that are not in a life-threatening situation.

• A larger, more comfortable waiting area including a specific “family waiting area” for families with children who wish to shelter their children from the sometimes harsh reality of today’s modern emergency room.

• Creating a relaxing area for patients waiting for test results, to ensure prompt diagnosis and treatment.

• The latest emergency department technology and training so staff and medical professionals can have access to the life-saving technology they need, and be able to treat patients in the most time- and cost-efficient manner.

• Renovations to the hospital main entry, lobby and registration areas.

The project will be constructed in three phases, in sequence, so that each phase is substantially complete and ready for occupancy before starting the subsequent phase. Extreme care and planning go in to making sure that construction does not interfere with the day-to-day functions of the medical center.
