In 2003, Midamerica Hotels Corporation decided to raze the 40-year-old Holiday Inn on theWilliam Street site and build a new $6 million Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites. Penzel Construction was chosen to provide concrete foundations for this new four-story, 102-room hotel located at Interstate 55 and William Street in Cape Girardeau. The project took two weeks to complete.
