Penzel Chosen to Build Third Facility for Liberty Utilities
Construction of the new Liberty Utilities facility in Girard, Illinois is progressing nicely.
Penzel Construction is currently working in Girard, Illinois on a new office and warehouse project for Liberty Utilities. Liberty is a regulated water, wastewater, natural gas, electric and propane/air utility company providing local utility management, service and support to small and mid-sized communities across the United States. This is the third project trusted to Penzel by Liberty Utilities. The Girard project is similar to a prior design-build project Penzel Construction completed in Vandalia, Illinois.
The office and warehouse project, while a replica of the Vandalia plant, will feature a different entrance design. The NUCOR metal building will provide 3,250 square feet of office space and 4,500 square feet of warehouse room for machinery, equipment, and supplies used by Liberty.
Set for completion in December of 2017, the $2 million design-build project will also make available a training area, break room, and adjacent space for Liberty vehicle maintenance. Working with Liberty’s exceptional team are Penzel’s Project Superintendent Bobby Miller and Project Manager Travis Roth.
Penzel Construction recently completed a facility for Liberty Utilities in Vandalia, Illinois.
Despite the minor challenges of operating outside of our home state and vetting quality local subcontractors, the work is proceeding smoothly, in large measure thanks to our previous project in Vandalia.

Our first project for Liberty Utilities was in Jackson, Missouri where we constructed a 25,000-square-foot headquarters and call center and a 7,000-square-foot warehouse. Built in 2014, that facility contains one of the most advanced mechanical systems in the region. The four-pipe zoned system includes redundant pumps ensuring that the system never goes down and is designed for extreme comfort. The 7,000-square-foot warehouse is designed to handle fleet maintenance. This multi-facility project was completed in just nine months.
