SITE VISIT:

We strongly encourage subcontractors to visit the construction site prior to submitting a proposal.  A site visit can be set-up with the Project Manager or Estimator.

 GENERAL NOTES:

In regards to the above referenced project, Penzel is preparing a proposal as General Contractor and requests subcontractor and material supplier quotes.

There is a 365 Calendar Day construction schedule with Liquidated Damages of $1,050.00 per calendar day for not completing on time.

This project consists of Civil/Site work and a two (2) story building over a full basement, with the basement level approx. 9, 875 sf, Main level approx. 14.879 sf, and upper level approx. 9,875 sf.  Building includes offices, Sallyport, holding cells, dispatch center, etc.  Building exterior to be masonry veneer over CMU bearing walls, steel columns and beams.  Membrane roof system over steel joists.  Interior is primarily CMU and metal stud walls.  The work includes, but is not limited to, Civil, Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Electrical components and systems.  There are Three (3) Alternates. 

The project Architect is Dille and Traxel, LLC., 1323 Maud Street, Poplar Bluff, Missouri  63901.  Phone:  573-778-0033.  Bidding Documents are available from the Architect, at Penzel’s office - 325 West Jackson Blvd., Jackson, Missouri  63755, or on this web site.  In addition, drawings and specification sections may be obtained through Penzel’s office.   Bid documents may also be viewed at the Architect’s office, AGC of Missouri in Jefferson City , Missouri, and McGraw-Hill Construction Dodge in Springfield Missouri.

Material substitutions from the specifications must be approved by the Architect prior to bidding.         

The project is being funded in whole, or in part, by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and has certain requirements for iron, steel and manufactured goods that must be strictly adhered to in accordance with the ‘Buy American’ provisions.  All participants must comply with Federal regulations including Wages as Determined by the Secretary of Labor in accordance with the provisions of the Davis-Bacon Act, and current prevailing wage rates, as set by the Missouri Department of Labor under Wage Order No. 17 for Scott County.  The higher of the two rates MUST BE PAID.  Please examine the Specification Pages - General Conditions for compliance issues regarding Federal Government policies.

We request your quotation on or before 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 9th, 2011.

Sales Taxes shall not be included in bids.  The Owner will issue a tax exempt letter for materials incorporated in the work.

Faxed bid forms will be accepted until Bid Time.  Subcontractors are responsible for confirmation of receipt of the bid form via a follow up phone call to the Penzel point of contact.  

Subcontractors are required to include the Owner and Penzel as additionally insured.

Subcontractors are required to adhere to all Penzel and OSHA Safety Policies.  The Penzel Standard Form Contract will be utilized without modification for all subcontractors.  A copy of the Penzel Safety Policy or Standard Form Contract is available upon request.  The OSHA Safety and Health Requirements Manual is available on the OSHA web site at www.osha.gov.  

Subcontractors are urged to review the plans, specifications, and all associated addendums that were used for design of this project.

  Subcontractors are responsible for clean up of material and waste associated with their scope of work.  Clean-up will be coordinated with the on-site superintendent and will be performed on a daily basis.  If the subcontractor is deemed unresponsive to this requirement, Penzel will perform the activity at the expense of the subcontractor.  

This project is tax exempt.  Missouri sales and/or use taxes are NOT applicable to permanent materials on this project.
